Earlier this month we had an interview with IDC’s Chris Barnard on evolutions in the ICT industry. In the meantime, Chris spoke at our first BT Business Day where he presented the results of IDC’s research on the priorities of the Dutch CIOs.
In the presentation Chris gave at the BT Business Day, and that you can see below, he didn’t focus on the Benelux only but also provided some data on global ICT evolutions.
IDC, for instance, predicts cloud adoption will continue to surge while cloud computing as a “buzzword” will fade.
Noteworthy is certainly also the continuing mobile explosion, the leading role of emerging markets (with China as a forerunner) in global IT spending and the impact of the expanding digital universe.
Today, the network is the business, and this has several consequences (explosive IP traffic growth, infrastructure demand, etc.). Obviously, this fast evolving landscape also has important consequences for the concerns, needs and even the role of the CIO.
