Big data equals big spending

According to IDC, the market of big data technology and services will grow to approximately €12.9 billion in 2015. That’s a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40% or seven times the growth of the overall ICT market spent.

IDC says that the growth in cloud, outsourcing and appliances deals for big data technology will lead to an increased focus on business value arguments instead of technology capabilities over time.

The company identifies system performance, security, manageability and capabilities as the main focus areas. Mainly software and services make up the bulk of the market opportunity through 2015, IDC adds, with a leading rile for storage.

The shortage of trained big data and analytics experts will encourage vendors to delivers big data technologies in the cloud, IDC states, concluding big data is the next essential capability and a foundation for the intelligent economy.
