As mentioned in a previous post, Deutsche Post DHL conducted a study into what our world could be like in 2050 and what the implications could be for the logistics business.
At the BT Business Day 2012, VP Solutions & Innovation Steffen Frankenberg presented the results. Steffen explained why it’s important to try to predict future trends and scenarios, even if the future can not be predicted.
To conduct the scenario study, Deutsche Post DHL involved external experts and followed a methodology to develop potential scenarios and their implications.
You can watch Steffen’s presentation, explaining the study and the methodology, below.
Steffen also showed a video in which Frank Appel, CEO Deutsche Post DHL, introduces the study. Deutsche Post DHL wanted to stimulate discussion on what the future could look like, and for its own planning purposes, it needed a basis on which to begin preparing for the longer-term future. Appel: “Only those who think about alternatives can devise robust strategies.”
Obviously, you can join that discussion as well and check what the future of logistics might be and how you can prepare for it. You can do so in our LinkedIn Group or by downloading the Deutsche Post DHL study here.
