On June 1, during the Cruyff Cup, customers, employees and suppliers of BT were working together to realize the first Cruyff Court – a safe playground for children. For as Johan Cruijff says: “Alone you cannot do anything, you must do it together.”
During the reception Davy Vreys, CFO BT Benelux, and William Spaaij, ambassador of the Cruyff Foundation explained our partnership and our achievements. In 2011 we have created an E-corner for young people between 14 – 18 years who participate in the Participate, Learn, Win program.
Participate, Learn, Win is a project that involves young people in their own neighbourhood via the ‘Cruyff Courts’. During a period fo 6 to 8 weeks the youngsters learn how they themselves can organise an event for their community.
In addition to education, imparting standards and values – based on Johan Cruijff’s 14 rules – is an important part of this project. With the E-corner the youngsters and the coaches are optimally prepared for the event.
In 2011, more than 40 coaches were trained, 135 youngsters participated in the Participate, Learn, Win project and 720 children participated in the events that were organized by the youngsters on the Cruyff Courts.
BT employees have also contributed to the success of the various events with disabled children as volunteers. BT encourages all employees to sign in for some of the 10 events that were selected to which employees can make a difference.
Thanks to the supporters
The creation of a court requires a significant investment. We were very glad to welcome our partners (Schuuring, Expereo, Eurofiber, NetTech , Alcatel Lucent, Huawei and TKF) who sponsored this initiative. After the networking lunch they cheered for one of the BT Teams that were on the fields of the Oympic Stadium wearing t-shirts with the partner logos on it.

The teams of customers and employees were playing in the 6vs6 against football tournament against Johan Cruijff, Edwin van der Sar, Brian Roy, Raoul Heertje, Ronald de Boer, Wim, John Ewbank and many other ambassadors of the Cruyff Foundation.
