BT first telco company to receive Spanish “Equality in Business” award

BT in Spain is the only Telco business to have achieved the “Equality in Business” award, which has been granted for the first time by the Spanish Ministry of Health, Equality and Social Policy, for its outstanding record in applying equal opportunities and treatment of female and male employees. BT is among the 36 winners out of the 600 companies that have applied for this certification.

The annual award is a symbol of excellence and recognises companies that have implemented commendable policies for equality of opportunity and treatment in relation to working conditions, organisational structure as well as products, services and advertising.

Winners can keep this seal of approval for three years if their annually submitted reports to the Office for Equality in Employment and Anti-Discrimination[1]demonstrate continued improvement.

Jacinto Cavestany, General Manager of BT España said: “It is a huge honour for BT to have achieved this symbol of excellence in equality recognising our commitment to equal opportunities and fair treatment. I am sure the award encourages other companies to follow as it inspires us to keep improving in this and other crucial areas such as work-life balance and affirmative action.”
