Today’s hyper-connected world allows all of us to access the Internet from wherever we are, using any device we want. And, we do. With our computers, Smartphones, iPads or other devices, we have become so dependent on the Internet, that we can’t decide whether to bring along an umbrella if we haven’t checked our weather app first.
Ray Stanton, VP of Professional Services for BT recently said that companies are now recognizing that not only is there a hyper-proliferation of devices, but that the world is now completely interdependent because of this hyper connectivity. Because of this, we simply can’t keep people from using their personal devices to access work, particularly as we expect more and more from employees. So, what we must do is find a way to work together to educate and create a digital world that is resistant to attack.
To that end, BT and four other companies – the CA Technologies, the Chertoff Group, Tata Consultancy Services and the European Police – have become the founding partners in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Partnership for Cyber Resilience (PCR), which is designed to improve global resilience to major cyber risks. The group is hoping that others will join this global, multi-industry, multi-stakeholder initiative.
Together, we can educate others on the changes in today’s global and hyper-connected environment and work together to develop the necessary tools needed for a safer digital future.
We welcome others to join in the effort and show leadership on the cybersecurity front. Membership is free and provides an environment for peer exchange, dialogue and resources to improve and benchmark your company’s cyber risk management practices in line with international standards.
