Cloud computing is predicted to grow enormously in the next five years, with a clear effect on IT spending, IDC says. An area that will be impacted strongly is storage, the research firm found.

This will mainly be caused by public cloud service providers and companies that have adopted private cloud environments investing in their infrastructure, mainly storage hardware, software, and services.

IDC forecasts that expenditure by public cloud service providers in storage will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 23.6% between 2010 and 2015. [Read more...]
