Wholesale in the Americas – by Corbett Whitton and Alex Ingles.

256X144_CorbettWhitton-eZineThe wholesale portfolio continues to be a key part of BT’s strategy and business. Our primary objective is to complement both the portfolio of products and the network reach of wholesale customers.

We have been meeting several of our carrier customers in the Americas in past few months at big conferences like ITW in Chicago and we would like to share some of the common feedback we received as well as our focus going forward.

Two products that are particularly appealing to most of our customers are IP Connect Global, which enable customers to use our global network via an NNI, and Inbound Contact Global, which delivers International Toll Free Service in 175 countries around the world. The Latin American economy had a rough 2015, mostly driven by the commodity bust. But impact across the region has varied significantly by country and by industry sector.

The Telecom industry seems to have remained reasonably resilient across the board. This resilience can be explained by many factors. On one hand you have obvious ones like recurring revenues and the fact that telecommunications has become embedded into business processes, so it is not something that companies can live without. HGC and BT agree to work on IPX peering arrangements

Interconnection enables increased global reach to fixed-line and mobile network operators

Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC), the fixed-line division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (stock code: 215), and BT announced an agreement to establish IPX network interconnection between the HGC Hutch-IPX Network and the BT IPX Network.

This agreement was announced at an official signing ceremony on 11 May 2015 in Chicago during International Telecoms Week (ITW) 2015. [Read more…]
