Hola, oi, bonjour, hallo, hello again,

My colleagues and I enjoyed meeting many of you at Futurecom.  The busy conference, with lots of discussion about World Cup 2014 and Olympics 2016, gave us opportunities to talk to you about our London 2012 experience in BT.  We’re happy to share that with you to help you prepare for the events in your region.

In fact, Alex Ingles, chief operating officer of BT LatAm, will give a keynote presentation about BT and London 2012 at Capacity LatAm in Rio in March: “Providing the most digitally and socially connected Games ever: The legacy of London 2012”. I plan to attend with him. If you’re going to the conference, please listen to Alex and look us up. [Read more…]

Early in September at a customer event in New York, we launched our Global IP Exchange node for the Americas. I was thrilled to attend and see some of you there.

The demo of our new high-definition (HD) video calling excited me as much as it did our guests.  My colleague Clive Quantrill – general manager of strategy, portfolio & business operations in GTM – attended by HD video.  It was so real that customers walked right up to the screen and talked to him.  Those talks continue with some of you about rolling out the service on your networks. BT is working hard to deliver the Americas node for our Global IP Exchange platform this summer.  You may remember that I told you about it in the previous issue of “Let’s Talk GTM”.

At International Telecoms Week (ITW) in Chicago in May, my colleague Mike Bygate signed Cincinnati Bell, who asked to be the first customer connected to the new node.

Talking about the growing number of BT IP Exchange nodes, Isabelle Paradis, president of analyst firm HOT TELECOM, said, “BT is taking a good commercial approach to rolling out its Global IP Exchange offer: taking advantage of its network reach to implement IPX gradually as demand develops region by region.” [Read more…]

Today I have exciting news for you. We’ve been telling you that we would continue to expand our BT Global IP Exchange services with more footprint, features and services. And in Singapore last October we launched our first IP Exchange node outside the UK. Now we’re planning more of these nodes in other regions where we have growing numbers of customers for IP interoperability and international voice.

Clearly North America, Latin America and the Caribbean are important markets for BT.  So here’s the news: We plan to deploy a Global IP Exchange facility for the Americas in summer 2013.  It will complement our footprints for Europe via our UK node and for Asia via our Singapore node.  I’d be delighted to tell you more about it so please contact me now.

I’d also like to share with you this reference from one of our satisfied IP Exchange customers in Latin America. USMatrix Telecommunications is a wholesale provider of prepaid and wholesale voice services, operating in Brazil and Japan.  The company has been using our Global IP Exchange for about a year.
